Is it me or did Telkoms ADSL just be come slower than usual! was promised 128kb/s but all i get is 32kb(and thats on a good day!). Heard about about popote wireless, Africa Onlines "infinite" and Kenya Data Networks "Butterfly". Both popote wireless and infinite have High setup costs (about 20k) and there speeds sound reasonably okay (for Kenya that is), the speeds range between 115kb/s for popote and 1054kb/s for Infinite. Popote Wireless charges 3,500 per month (if you choose the unlimited internet option) while Infinte costs 8,000 per month. Butterfly on the other hand sounds too good to be true, it claims to have speeds of upto 56Mbps, no setup costs (all you need to buy is a wireless modem) and with a monthly fee of between 2,500 and 3,500 (depending on the ISP you choose to connect to the network with). Only problem with Butterfly is that its coverage is limited and we will have to wait for a few months before the whole of Nairobi is covered by their network. However it seems that the days of slow surfing are almost over!!!!
